Item Details

Description

Oil on canvas of the gaff rigged America's Cup defender "Independence" shown under full sail with all sails set including jibs and a flying club sail. "Independence" was built by Thomas W. Lawson, the copper magnate who also owned the a ship of the same name. Signed lower right "D. Taylor". Mounted into a gold painted frame. 36 x 36.
